Rory's Toodee Costume
Ever since Rory discovered Yo Gabba Gabba! this past May, she has been in love. When we started talking about Halloween, I let her choose between being Toodee and another non-Gabba (gasp!) character. I don't know why I wasted my breath. She chose Toodee before I finished asking the question.
I set out immediately to make the costume because I knew it was going to take me awhile. Especially because a hem and a few buttons pretty much summed up the extent of my sewing knowledge. Armed with some fabric, a cheap-o sewing machine and a few other sewing essentials, I got to work. From the time it was a heap of blue fabric sitting on the table, she loved that costume. Rory watched me each step of the way and proudly told daddy of the progress we had made each day when he came home. Progress was slow because as it turns out, cheap-o sewing machine couldn't handle more than one layer of fleece--so I would up hand-stitching A LOT of the costume.

After a month of work (hand-stitching plus a 2 year-old and 4 month old apparently equals slow) Toodee is all done. It may not be perfect, but as soon as she put the costume on and looked in the mirror, Rory shrieked "Toodee!" at the top of her lungs, so I guess it's good enough. :) I think it's going to be a great Halloween.
