Micah's Birthday Party
Micah's Yo Gabba Gabba Birthday
For Micah's second birthday, I needed to act quickly as our theme changed just two weeks before his party as his tastes in television shows changed! I searched the internet for ideas for birthday party ideas and at the time, there were very few ideas out there. But at the party, I was surprised that many members of our family knew Yo Gabba Gabba very well and were excited for the theme! (Thus, this idea for this website was born... not enough information out there for such an AWESOME show, we have a need to fill!)
In our family we have a tradition of making our own birthday cakes. For Micah's cake, I simply found an image from the internet that I liked. I made two copies, one as a reference, and one to cut up. The one that I cut up, I used as a template and I traced around the figures before filling in their details. Once I had all the characters filled in, I piped Micah's name and the number "2". Then I filled in the rest of the space with piped frosting. From start (baking the cake) to finish, it took about seven hours to complete.

For decorations, I found at a local party store plenty of neon-colored plates, napkins, and silverware.
Also at the party store, I picked up a small portable helium tank and balloons to make them into characters from the show. For the pupils, I traced around a penny with a pen onto black construction paper. Then I created one eye shape I liked and used it as a template for all of the eyes (except for Muno, of course). Construction paper worked well, but do use a good scrapbooking glue, as tape didn't hold the paper onto the balloons. Another word of caution, DJ Lance's hat weighed the balloon way down, so we had to trim his hat way back... but it might also help to make his balloon extra-full of helium. Once you have your pieces glued on, use a permanent marker to fill in any additional details such as Brobee's smile, and eyelashes on Foofa and Toodee.
The balloons and cake were a hit, and since the party, my personal blog has received several hits per day looking for Yo Gabba Gabba birthday party ideas! So I hope this website and this story is the inspiration you need to spark your own creative juices!
