It's Really Happening!: Yo Gabba Gabba Collaborating with Volcom and a Bunch of Celebrities you Love.
For several weeks (or what has felt like several months), people close to Yo Gabba Gabba have been teasing us fans like crazy over something called, "It's Really Happening!" A link was often provided to a very cryptic video featuring Flaming Lips' front man Wayne Coyne, and legendary rapper Biz Markie. It had us all scratching our heads wondering what the heck was going on! I typically hate cryptic messages (Facebook drives me crazy for this very reason), but I'll admit, I was moderately intrigued.
More and more details are finally starting to surface, and though not all is out yet, here is what we know so far:
Volcom has partnered with Yo Gabba Gabba to come up with a new line of clothing. Volcom is known as one of the top brands of gear for snowboarding, surfing, skateboarding, etc. The new clothing line is featuring artwork from some really talented celebrities and friends of Yo Gabba Gabba: Biz Markie, Wayne Coyne, Jack Black, Mark Mothersbaugh, Jon Heder and Dave Grohl. This collaboration is a great idea, as I see it.

Most coveted from this collaboration, though, just might be the limited edition 7" featuring two new songs. One song is a... (how to put this?)... duet? from Biz Markie and Wayne Coyne. Two of the last people you'd put together, but I guess that's the point of their song. Why don't you just check out the video; it's seriously hilarious! You'll also get a preview of what the clothes will look like!
The second song on the 7" is a guest spot Rocket from the Crypt did for an upcoming episode of Yo Gabba Gabba. If you're an old school fan of RFTC, you know this reunion is an amazing feat. Something we never thought would happen. They even brought back the original drummer, Adam Willard.
How did the folks at Gabba manage to arrange the reunion? Had I been a fly on the wall in that meeting, I would have chimed in that it would be easier to brush a shark's teeth with a baby toothbrush than to make this happen. As far as we know, RFTC will never play together as a band again, but here they are for one last epic appearance.
That said, enjoy the video made for the currently un-aired episode of Yo Gabba Gabba, featuring the awesome Thomas Lennon as the chef!
(Did you catch that the RFTC lead singer John Reis played his recurring role of the Swami, announcing his own band? Come on, that is hilarious! Those folks at Yo Gabba Gabba always make me laugh with those little nuances.)
