Grayson's First Birthday Party
Grayson's birthday party was a huge success and I couldn't have done it without the help of all the YGG friends! Thanks to everyone that has posted their ideas, pictures, and suggestions!

The first thing I did was make invitations. I used card stock paper and cut it in half vertically. Then I printed the front and back using word. The outside was made to look like the boom box and I printed and cut out stickers that looked like the buttons to close the flaps. The stickers tore nicely down the middle or came off the paper entirely without tearing the actual invite.

For the decorations I printed out a ton of characters from the Nick Jr. website. I attached them to streamers, along the walls, to the front door, everywhere! I also found that on the "magnet sheet" printout, there are other images that print they don't show you. This was a great find because it had the balloon faces I could cut out for the balloons. I only wish I had found it sooner so I could have used some of the images to make the boom box on the invitation!

I also hand drew the characters on poster board to hang around the walls and made a poster with my son's picture on it.

For the kid table I used the print outs from Nick Jr. again to make the goodie bags and just put in some candy, finger puppets and the puzzles from the Nick Jr. printouts. On the table I also had the coloring pages and some crayons and the masks. All the kids seemed to have a good time with their bags.

The kids and adults played separate games of "Pin the Eye on Muno" which was so much fun. The kids really enjoyed it and I think the adults may have enjoyed it more. My husband had suggested that we play "Pin the Unibrow on Brobee" which I thought was hilarious, but I had already made Muno, so if we have another YGG party next year....

The kids watched the YGG DVD with the first four episodes on it while the adults stood over watching for the first time. It was pretty funny to get every one's first opinions/reactions!
I had Grayson's cake made at a local bakery that we use and they did a fantastic job with the lettering and the whole cake in general (it was so yummy yummy too!). The small Brobee cake looks great and was from another bakery that was so generous to brave trying it! It was equally delicious, but unfortunately Grayson did not want anything to do with either cake. He did, however, love the cake topper characters!

I also made a Brobee bib for cake time using a bib from a craft store and just hot glued felt on. Pencil doesn't write on felt so I just had to free hand cut the shapes.

My favorite part I think was the adult party favors though. I made koozies of all the characters using plain koozies and foam. The adults really loved it and I think it helped them get into the YGG spirit!

I loved how the food table turned out - I was able to find the white skirt at a craft store and I'm not sure how everyone else was able to get enlargements of the four "lands" (our kinkos wanted a ridiculous amount for it), but I think ours turned out pretty good on regular sized paper.

And how could I forget...DJ Lance was a guest of honor! We had so much fun trying on the DJ Lance hat and glasses and getting a photo! All of our guests willingly put on the hat and glasses to rock out with DJ Lance. We'll be sending those photos with our thank you cards to all our guests.

Grayson got so many cool YGG toys and has been such the dancey dancer ever since!!

Hopefully I included everything we did! Thanks again to all of the YGG friends!! I couldn't have done it without you!

i love the dj lance! where did you find an image high quality enough to print it that big? please help i am doing my son's first bday at the end of this month! thanks!!!!!
you can buy the cut out at birthdayexpress.com for $39.
i love it!
WOW GIRL! First of all, I think you & I come from the same gene pool :) We have THE SAME countertops, pink ice bucket and case of Bud Light! I am planning on doing a lot of the same decos as you, and was planning on getting the DJ Lance cutout for pics...do you still have it? Are you willing to part with it to get some of your money back on it? Also, I hope you won't be angry, but I think I might just have to copy your invite...do you happen to have the template saved on word you could email me? We are having our party at a local indoor playground/pizza place, Fun City, (with fountain drinks), but a smaller group of us might go bowling afterwards...if we do, I am DEF making the koozies!! Did you have any trouble getting the other bakery making the Brobee cake, i.e. copyright issues? I saw a super cute Foofa cake, but know there is no way I could do myself....Hope to hear from you, Miss YGG Party Planner!!! My email is soglear@yahoo.com....Thanks, Sarah
Wow! Such a fun party! I love how much you incorporated YGG into everything! I especially like the DJ Lance cut out and having your guests take pictures with him!! Great job!

You did a fantastic job on everything. The invitations and cakes came out beautifully. I may have to "borrow" your koozie idea...where did you get the plain koozies, what type of adhesive worked best?
Thanks! I got the koozies at Hobby Lobby. They just happened to come in packs of 6 with each of the colors! I used foam sheets and cut the shapes. I wasn't sure about the adhesive either, but I did it with hot glue. Seemed to work pretty well when I put a lot on. We are still using them and they are holding together! :) Good luck!
Did you use regular 8 1/2 x 11 inch cardstock? Just wondering because as I sit here playing with a piece of paper and folding it in, it comes out alot smaller than your image. I plan to "steal" the boom box invitation idea and am considering using some silver scrap booking paper as the backing/outside and then buy the sticker paper and print the buttons and speakers. I'll probably print the wording on regular paper and just glue it to the inside.
Let me know though if you used legal paper; thanks for your submission and your help!
