I decided to do a Yo Gabba Gabba party for my son's 3rd birthday. Unfortunately no one has any party decorations for the show yet so I had to improvise.

I made shirts for all of the kiddos, blew up pictures of the character's homes and put them up on the wall and I also made a Plex Pinata.

I didn't want any of the kids to get upset by watching him get smashed to bits so I made the pinata so that the candy comes out of the robot door.

Note: You can find the character's homes here on Nick Jr's website. Simply print them out and take them to a copy shop to have them blown up to the desired size!

i am having a yo gabba gabba birthday party for my daughter in march... would you be able to give me directions on how you made the plex pinata..please!!
I don't have any step by step instructions, I really just winged it :)
I used one large box for the body, a smaller one for the head, two small dvd mailing boxes for the side of his head and 4 small square boxes for his feet and hands.
I used tissue paper to wrap all the boxes except the largest one. The big box I took strips of yellow tissue, snipped one side and glue gunned it all around except for the trap door part(which I cut out ahead of time). That part I just covered in tissue.
For the arms and legs I used this foam pipe covering I got at the hardware store and I covered it with silver duct tape. I just cut holes in the boxes and stuck the foam in. It fit pretty snuggly in the boxes so I didn't need to use any glue. I cut all of the details for the face and body out of poster board and cut a dowel and painted a wooden bead for the top of his head.
The part of attaching his head to his body is the part I really winged, I used a lot of wire and duct tape :)
I also cut a piece of cardboard and attached it to the inside of his body to make a ramp so that when the kids open his door all the candy would fall out.
I hope this helps, if you have any other questions feel free to ask

hi, i saw the place to print this on nick jr but am confused..dont i need special paper or something to make this an iron-on? please advise, thanks!
Thanks for the question!
Alrighty, the process is pretty simple.
You'll first need some transfer paper. You can find transfer paper at an office supply store and many craft stores. They come pretty standard to fit most home printers. I heard you can get Avery brand "t-shirt transfer" paper at Walmart for $7 for 6 sheets.
Once you have printed your image out onto the transfer paper, you simply iron it onto your shirt, tote bag, or item of choice. The package of transfer paper should have specific directions on how hot to heat your iron, so be sure to check that out before starting.
When you're ready to wash the item later on after wearing it, I highly recommend remembering to turn it inside out to keep the ink nice and strong... as with any printed t-shirt.
Let us know how it goes!
I am getting ready for my daughters birthday party in May 2010. Great directions on the iron ons!!!
i'm so excited to do this all..i need a project for myself and even better that my son gets to benefit from it! You are all so creative..i went to the store this morning and can't wait to begin!
