Calista's 2nd Birthday Party!
Calista recently had her second birthday party in September, and her mother, Esther, shares with us all of the wonderful details she created to make Calista's big day perfect!
My daughter turned 2 in September. My sister and I decided to make cupcakes and I placed them in front of the backdrop to set the scene. We used Yo Gabba Gabba rings to decorate extra cupcakes as well as candied apples that my oldest sister and my brother in law made - we gave those to our adult guests for the party.
I re-created the Gabba's on small pails, which I used for our utensils and napkins.
For the children's gift bags, I printed Yo Gabba Gabba coloring pages and created mini-coloring books, which I placed in the bag with crayons, a candy bar, and a pair of star-shaped shades to represent DJ Lance.
I convinced my nephew to dress up as DJ Lance, and he did a small performance for my daughter and her guests. He used the piñata (the boom box- made by my mother in law) as his prop. Instead of having all the kids break the piñata, DJ Lance threw the candy in the air for everyone to catch. We kept the piñata and now my daughter uses it to play with her Gabba dolls.
My sister in law painted the Gabba's faces on shoeboxes and we used those as the back drop for our DJ Lance performance. My daughter still plays with the boxes as well.
I really enjoyed using this theme for my daughter's birthday party. It was easy to use the bright colors, the fun music, and cupcakes for all the little ones that we expected. Having the performance by DJ Lance was the best, because he led the kids in dancing, singing, and the birthday song singing for my daughter and guests. My guests even waited in line for the pictures!
