Tutorial: Maksim's Birthday Party Invitation!
For my son Maksim's Birthday Party I already knew I wanted to make him boombox invites, and after going through tons of designs at gabbafriends.com I finally settled on the design.
Here is the final product.
I created all the graphics with adobe photoshop here at home. (Images were modified to fit on the Gabbafriends website; click on image for the full-size version.)
The boombox image and inside message image should be printed to 4x6 in size, while the two images of the gabba friends should be 3x4. As for the mini inserts for sizing, I just printed them wallet size.
You can print them in the convenience of your home, or go to your local staples/office depot to get them printed.
Once I got the images printed I cut each out so everything was separate before starting on the invitations.
First I got the scrapbook paper and with a ruler drew out the lines. 1 piece of paper can make 3 invitations. I then cut the paper into 3 4x12 strips. Once they were in strips I then drew a line in the middle of each (at 6 inches) and folded the sides in to the line. And with that, the invitation base is complete!
Next, I glued everything on the inside of the invitation. You can use glue stick or liquid glue, whichever you prefer. This was Maksim's favorite part because he got to help me glue everything down.
For the boom box on the outside, I made sure each piece was cut individually and also cut the buttons right through the middle where the boombox is supposed to open. Instead of gluing them down, I used doubled sided scrapbook tape to give it a 3-D effect on the outside, this is to me the best part of the invitation.
I hope everyone enjoys making these invitations as much as I did.
Thanks so much! Hope you enjoy!
