Ben's 3rd Birthday Party!
My now 3 year old son, Ben, requested a Yo Gabba Gabba birthday party this year, so I got to work making lots of Yo Gabba Gabba treats and games (a lot of which were inspired by posts on your site!).
I hand drew the characters for his birthday banner, and even put some balloons in Muno's hand. :)
For games, I made a DJ Lance Rock hat and took each child's photo in it.
The hat doubled as a blindfold for the Pin the Eye on Muno game. I made Muno out of red poster board and cut the eyes out of black poster board. I wrote each child's name on the circles with a silver pen and put a strip of double sided tape on the back to attach them. It was a hit!
Our other game was "Party in Brobee's Tummy" where the kids tossed plastic food into a basket. I made a Brobee out of poster board to tape up behind the basket.
The showcase of the party was the cake. I started by making cookies the shapes of the YGG characters. I made the cookies by drawing out the characters on poster board and cutting out stencils. I rolled out the dough and cut them out with the knife. The cookies were decorated with a glaze technique with 10 colors of icing. My husband said our kitchen looked like that of a mad scientist! LOL
The cake is 2 tiers, the bottom being DJ Lance's boom box, with the character cookies lining the sides. The top tier is DJ Lance's hat. Muno stands at the back of the top tier holding the happy birthday banner. It took me until 2 am the morning of the party to finish it, but it was so worth it!
