Yo Gabba Gabba holds formal auditions before the filming of each season. The auditions are held in the Los Angeles area, and your child needs to be able to be in Los Angeles for possible call backs. About Yo Gabba Gabba! (As interpreted by Gabbafriends.com):

Yo Gabba Gabba is a live-action children’s television show that features five friendly toys coming to life when DJ Lance Rock says the magic words, “Yo Gabba Gabba!”

Social skills and life lessons are the main theme in Yo Gabba Gabba. Each episode features conflict and resolution (such as not throwing things at your friends). Though the dialog is simple enough for young children to understand, “kids of all ages" love the characters and the message of each episode. Watching Yo Gabba Gabba with your children is a useful tool in creating an opportunity to engage in talking about those social issues that don’t come so easily when mixing with other people outside the home.

Yo Gabba Gabba also encourages movement and exercise, as well as music appreciation. The songs are simple enough that young children can sing along, and the choreography is perfect for keeping children and parents engaged in dancing along.

Though the target age is 1-6, Yo Gabba Gabba has a large following of teens and 20-year olds as it features special guests that appeal to the hipster crowd, such as various indie, ska, country and hip hop artists. Parents also love Yo Gabba Gabba as the retro feel reminds them of their own childhood favorite television shows such as H.R. Pufnstuf and earlier episodes of Sesame Street.

Notable Quotes

"My kids [Stella, 22 months, and Liam, 3] are obsessed with Yo Gabba Gabba! It's a dream to guest on the show and do a dance-y dance!"

-Tori Spelling, actress

"I love YO GABBA GABBA. I don't care what you say, DJ Lance, Muno, Brobee, Foofa, Toodee and Plex have taught my daughter many valuable lessons--like the desirability of napping, for one. Not to throw objects at Daddy's skull. Not biting. The value of 'trying again' and 'not giving up.' All set to surprisingly weird, offbeat songs which--in another venue and with other lyrics, one might find oneself enjoying at a club. They get good indie bands as guests, and Mark Mothersbaugh of DEVO is a regular. I know every song and every lyric by heart."

-Anthony Bourdain, host of No Reservations
